Course Outline
Learn about the origins of Intuitive Eating, how its principles can help you have a better connection with your body, and how to get started in having a better relationship with food.
Discover the surprising origins of diet culture, how it seeps its way into all parts of our lives, and to recognize and challenge the lies it tells us about ourselves.
Reflect on what beliefs about food you have been exposed to by the Food Police, and break away from those beliefs by tuning into your values around food.
Connect with your body’s feelings of hunger, find what patterns of eating serve you best, and learn how hunger shows up in tricky situations.
Tune into your body’s feelings of fullness, when a meal or snack feels like “enough”, and how to manage situations where you may feel full and hungry at the same time.
Give yourself full and unconditional permission to eat the food that you want, and end patterns of feeling out of control and guilty about your eating.

Intuitive Eating is a self-care framework developed by dietitians Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch in 1995. Since its development, it has been studied around the world and praised for how it helps people improve their relationship with food and body, reduce disordered eating, and improve self-esteem and body image.

The 10 principles of Intuitive Eating do not need to be learned in any specific order. I chose to cover Principle 6: Feel Your Fullness in this Intuitive Eating 101 course because I feel like the topics of hunger and fullness are nice to learn together. I’ll cover Principle 5: Discover the Satisfaction Factor, in the Advanced Intuitive Eating Course.

This course contains recorded video content of me walking you through each step of Intuitive Eating, a workbook for you to print at home, and the opportunity to book coaching calls with me to discuss your questions and progress.
Expect to spend about 30-45 minutes watching the videos for each chapter, and another 20-30 minutes going through the workbook activities for each chapter.
The coaching calls you can book with me will be 30 minutes each, there will be multiple options for calls from Monday - Friday 9am to 6pm EST. I will do my best to accommodate requests outside of those times but I cannot guarantee they will be available.

This course is not meant for anyone with an active eating disorder. While I do use Intuitive Eating in my work with eating disorder clients, the work we do needs to be adapted to best fit your needs.
If you are looking for support with an eating disorder, please consider working with a therapist and dietitian that specialize in this area. You can find a dietitian near you on the sites EDRD Pro, Project Heal, and MEDA (Multi-Service Eating Disorders Association).

No, this course is not a diet or weight-loss plan. While many people who are learning about Intuitive Eating also want to lose weight, Intuitive Eating does not have a goal of weight loss.
Many of my clients who have desired weight loss while learning about Intuitive Eating find that they feel more accepting and at peace with their body, and are better able to cope with our culture’s stigma against larger body sizes.
